Fine Dining, Fine Arts: Immerse Yourself in This Issue
November and December are often exciting months for people as they gather with friends and family. Others, however, find this time of year difficult, especially if they are without a home. Korina Roberts took on an immersion experience at Stephen Center for Omaha Magazine to discover what happens when someone is homeless.
One popular activity during the winter holidays is going out to eat special dinners, and Omahans wanting to experience plates created by top chefs need look no further than their own hometown. Chefs Cedric Fichepain, Jim Trebbien, and Leo Fascinella have received a place in the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque, the highest acclaimed recognition a chef can receive in America. Achieving this is quite an honor, as the group is restricted to 100.
Gathering with a friend, or two, or four, for coffee is a great way to spend time during these cooler months. Omaha has plenty of places, and we highlight six independent coffee shops in our Obviously Omaha.
Omaha is quite the city for the arts. This issue highlights Jimmy Weber, a respected country musician; Lakesha Green, the new executive director of the Union for Contemporary Art; and others.
There’s something for everyone in this issue. On a different note, I want to send our executive editor, Kim Carpenter, best wishes. She’s taking a medical leave, and in the interim, I’m stepping back to being lead editor on the publications side.
