OmahaHome Entryway - Falling for Fall

Aug 21, 2019 04:54PM ● By Sandy Matson

While living on the beach is hard to beat, fall will forever hold a special place in my heart. The leaves slowly change colors, boots and sweaters re-emerge from closets, and delicious comfort foods make their appearance.

Need some ideas to warm your home and hearts for this season? Adorn furniture with comfy throws to make the room more inviting as a whole. Use a textured rug over wood or cement floors to tie a room together and keep toes warm. And don’t underestimate a great arrangement of fall accessories—such as pumpkin-scented candles, stylish throw pillows in warm fall hues, or one of Kathleen Connor’s custom lampshades—to bring autumn into your home.

Speaking of cozy, in this issue you get to peek inside not one, but two beautiful beach homes. Renee Smeal’s home was built with family and lifestyle in mind and features hints of the ocean, while Todd Lavigne and Gina Dolan’s blended household lives in a beautifully lit former Street of Dreams home—a dream come true.

Warm your hearts in this issue with a story of uncommon bonds in the Minne Lusa neighborhood, or the more uncommon pedicure on chickens’  toenails in the Donscheskis’ whimsical chicken coop.

And on a personal note, September is even more special because two of my favorite men have birthdays—my dad, Bob, and son Jake.
