group of video gamers and screens

Friday, April 12 to Saturday, April 13:

Gamers, bring your computers or consoles to NETWAR 36.0 at Baxter Arena this weekend, where you can play a wide range of multiplayer games for a full 26 hours. Best of all? Proceeds from this event will go to the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, furnishing medical grade gaming kiosks, or “GO Karts,” for children who are unable to leave their rooms. NETWAR is not just for competitive players—it’s for everyone who likes to play and have fun. Every gamer is also eligible to win big prizes in the event raffle. Learn more about this event here.

Saturday, April 13:

Weird weather got you going, “What the what?” Do something about it this weekend at Earth Day Omaha in Elmwood Park. Dust off your bike, check out some electric vehicles, and recycle your electronics, all while learning what you can do to help keep our planet green. This year’s event is running on a biofuel blend to reduce consumption of fossil fuels, and you can visit their Zero Waste stations to learn how to responsibly dispose of food scraps, non-recyclable organic waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, and metal. It’s not all about learning, though. There’s plenty of fun to be had, including great live music, a variety of food, a beer garden, and around 100 vendors to visit. Get the full day’s schedule here.

Malcolm X Memorial Foundation's greenhouse

Saturday, April 13:

The Malcolm X Memorial Foundation collaborated with artist Jordan Weber to build the 4MX Greenhouse. This weekend is the Spring Greenhouse Opening and you are invited to come check out the building, constructed on the historic grounds of the Malcolm X birthsite in North Omaha. The greenhouse will aid in the storing of produce and work collaboratively with the already established Shabazz Community Garden. The community is invited to this free, family-friendly event, where they can listen to live music from Liz Gre, followed by the breaking of bread, meditation, and a Salah prayer. Read more about the event here, and more about the foundation here.

Jessie James Decker

Sunday, April 14:

For the first time in over two years, country-pop singer/songwriter, Jessie James Decker is on tour again and she is bringing her “Jessie James Decker 2019" tour to the Holland Performing Arts Center. Decker is a singer, songwriter, TV personality, fashion designer, beauty and lifestyle influencer/entrepreneur, and The New York Times best-selling author—basically, she’s the Kim K. of country music. But she’s best known for her music, so this is a show you won’t want to miss. Get your tickets here now.
