This showroom and patient area was designed to enhance the customer experience, giving clients an open, comfortable, yet very functional healthcare space. Custom-designed shelving was incorporated to highlight the various lines of high-end frames carried here. This new office space was designed not only to accommodate the patients’ needs, but also those of the optician’s growing business. Areas for enhanced technology use, marketing activity, and
staff comfort were all carefully considered
and executed.

To give this clubhouse the feeling of an upscale hotel lobby, clean, crisp lines were integrated into the space with the use of a herringbone, wood-look tile on the floor that draws you into the main gathering and entertaining space. Those clean lines are continued throughout the space with the use of solid fabrics applied to the furniture along with patterned accent pieces that bring character into the space.

A modern, energized, yet soothing environment was created to appeal to both the patients’ desire for an upscale, professional healthcare facility and their need for a calming atmosphere that would aid in the overall healing process. Increased and improved lighting schematics, a new lunchroom retreat, and performance materials that hold up to the necessary code requirements of a commercial environment all enhance the workplace for clients and professional staff members alike.

Outdoor Living Jewel

Photography by Tom Kessler

The first hint of a nip in the air this fall will be a harbinger of welcome news for more than just football fans. The homeowners of this outdoor living space say the season is when they are most active in entertaining—and just relaxing—in this cleverly conceived room.

Organic hues dominate the décor of the casually appointed space where the viewer blends with the view from this earthy perch overlooking a golf course in West Omaha. And if the warmth of the color scheme isn’t enough, a rustic fireplace and auxiliary heaters promise to chase away the chill as Mother Nature begins hers steady march toward winter.

The homeowners are also avid wine aficionados, so it’s no surprise that this space adjoins a tasting room, which then leads to a sprawling, 3,000-bottle wine cellar housing treasures from around the globe.

The project is the work of interior designer Diane Luxford, who took home a 2013 NE/IA Chapter of ASID Award for her efforts.

A calendar is a stubborn thing, but these homeowners know how to cheat the elements. Any precipitous drop in the temperate is accompanied by a corresponding drop of the space’s roll-up cladding, making this beauty just about as close as one can get to year-round outdoor living in these climes.

All of the client’s wish list was achieved in this project, and they were elated with the outcome.

The objective of this project was to create a functioning man-cave for watching football games and entertaining.  A glass transom creates a light and airy feeling in two spaces. No man-cave would be complete without a bar, so cabinetry was added to match the TV projection canopy.
