Immigrant Legal Center was established as Justice For Our Neighbors–Nebraska in 1999. Legal clinics were held in Nebraska and Iowa with JFON attorneys from Washington, D.C., flying in monthly to advise clients. Today, Immigrant Legal Center enjoys a solid reputation as a leader and resource for our region’s immigration legal profession.
Big changes are happening for this growing, nonprofit immigration law firm. In 2018, Justice For Our Neighbors–Nebraska became Immigrant Legal Center, to better describe their services. The new location makes it easier for clients to find them. After building renovations are complete, staff will move to the first floor in fall 2018.
Even with these changes, ILC’s culture, values, and mission remain the same: to serve low-income immigrants of all faiths, races, abilities, and ages.
Pay it Forward
Legal representation for an immigrant frequently means the difference between staying in the U.S. and being deported. In 2017, ILC’s legal team handled 3,410 cases for individuals from 47 countries and the need is only growing. Individuals can help make sure immigrants are welcomed by offering time, talent, and monetary donations. The U.S. is a country that prospers from immigrant contributions. It is everyone’s duty to value and honor one another as human beings.
