PICK OF THE WEEK: NYE Parties! Sunday, Dec. 31:  Finding just the right place to go for New Year’s Eve is all about finding what fits. Here are a few of our favorites, from fried chicken to flappers. Pop on your favorite top hat or fringey flapper dress and head to the The Down Under Lounge for a Roaring Twenties New Year’s Eve. Try your hand at the Charleston while enjoying the music of Ragged Company, Super Moon, and Gallivant. Fox trot over here for tickets. If you’re looking for something with a little more bass, DJ Shor-T has you covered at The Tavern’s Black and Gold: 2018 NYE. Dress how you like, but know there will be plenty of photo ops. Check it out here. You know what this one’s all about. It’s the 11th Annual Happy Goo Year at Slowdown, with live music from High Up and dance tunes from DJs Kethro and Todd Fink. Save some cash for booze and get your tickets here now. In the mood for something different this year? Nite Owl NYE 2018 Vol. 2: Champagne and Chicken might be just the ticket. Where else can you get a 3-piece fried chicken with all the fixin's and a 40 of the champagne of beers on New Year’s Eve? (There will be a champagne toast at midnight with the real stuff being poured.) Go here for more details. Piñatas make every party better, and this one is no exception. Thursday, Dec. 28: You may remember back in September we shared an event to help out Nayef Zgkurt, who suffered a life-threatening brain injury. Well, great news! He is up and running and just as caring as ever. To thank everyone for their incredible support, he’s doing what he loves–throwing a dance party because NaYEF*STILL BELIEVES. The event is happening tonight at 9 p.m. at Slowdown and it’s free. Get out and show him how happy you are he’s a part of this world. Head here to get the whole story.

Friday, Dec. 29: Nothing warms you up like getting the blood flowing with some rocking music, so get out to Brothers and beat the cold back with SERIAL’s 3rdAnnual Holiday Show. Made up of members from several local acts, SERIAL has been playing around Omaha since the '90s and they still know how to party harder than most. You’ll also get to hear the funnily absurd music of Kansas City’s Drop a Grand. Click here to find out more about the show, which starts at 10 p.m. so drink some Monster if you must. Just get out and keep moving.

Saturday, Dec. 30: Let the kids get in on some New Year’s Eve fun at the Noon Year’s Eve Celebration at Durham Museum this Saturday. There will be live music from the Mesozoic Era with Dino O’Dell and the T-Rex All-Stars with special crafts and activities on hand. Make sure they wear their stomping shoes for the celebratory bubble wrap stomp and balloon drop. Learn more here.
Saturday, Dec. 30: Get out and support local comedic talent at the Omaha Omaha Improv Festival Fundraiser at The Backline. All proceeds from the door and the raffle will go toward the 6th Annual Omaha Improv Festival this spring.There's so much crazy fun going on at this show it's simply too much to list, so check out their website here or see their Facebook page for updates here.
